I believe strength training should help you live your life, not take it over.
MY JOURNEY TO BECOMING A COACH DIDN’T START IN A GYM.
It started on a basketball court. After multiple basketball-related knee surgeries, I developed Patello-femoral Osteoarthritis.
That gave me firsthand experience adapting training around injuries, pain and movement restrictions.
Those challanges taught me that fitness isn’t about perfection, it’s about finding what works for your body and continuing to move forward.
That experience helps me better understand how to guide clients through their own limitations while continuing to make meaningful progress safely and confidently.
THAT’S WHY I COACH THE WAY I DO.
I focus on the basics, do them consistently, and do them well.
I’m not a “no pain, no gain” trainer. Training should be challanging, but it should also be sustainable.
My goal is for you to leave each session feeling accomplished, energized, and more confident, never beat up or dreading your next workout.
The most succesful programs aren’t the most complicated. They’re the ones you can stick with. That’s where real change happens.
Whether your goal is to get stronger, move with less pain, lose body fat, or simply feel better in your body, I’ll help you train safely, effectively, and in a way that fits your real life.
BEFORE OPENING MY GYM, I DESIGNED THEM
I helped design and outfit personal training studios, physical therapy clinics, high school weight rooms, and corporate fitness facilities throughout the greater Portland area.
While I enjoyed that work, I discovered that my true passion was coaching people directly and helping them feel stronger, healthier, and more confident in their bodies.
In 2021, I opened Cara Conway Personal Training in Newcastle, WA. In 2023, I moved back home to Oregon and built by own private gym in the Oak Grove neighborhood.
A space where every detail is intentional and every client has my full attention.
